Riphah forms RACE to produce new generation of professionals

ISLAMABAD: Riphah International University (RIU), Islamabad, has formed “Riphah Advisory Council for Excellence-RACE” consisting of top executives of industry and business concerns to join faculty and students in building human resource with a view to produce a new generation of professionals, researchers and leaders needed for our country and for the Ummah.
The Riphah Advisory Council for Excellence (RACE), will also help in achieving economic independence and create entrepreneurial mind set and culture with a vision of integrity with Islamic values and contemporary approaches for human recourse development. Second meeting of the Advisory Board was held on Saturday here at Al-Mizan campus of Riphah International University. It was attended by a number of Chief Executive Officers and senior executives from industry and business in public and private sectors. The meeting was also attended by the senior faculty members and
officials of Riphah International University. Prof. Amanullah, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences chaired the meeting. He gave a brief resume of activities of the university.
He welcomed the participants and highlighted the objectives of the Riphah Advisory Council for Excellence. He said the board will help to strengthen the university-industry linkages and to merge theoretical and practical experiences to enhance the overall quality of education and research. The meeting discussed in detail, various aspects of university
industry collaboration, human resource development, educational activities, open house, research linkages / final year projects with industry, student visits to industry, career counseling, faculty development programs, social welfare programs and student internships.
The Chief Executives and senior Executives from industry and businesses, attending the meeting, appreciated the idea of forming Advisory Board by Riphah International University to develop relationship between academia and industry.
They were of the view that such an exercise will not only promote need based quality education but will also be helpful in creating research culture in the educational institutions and industrial and business concerns.
They offered their full support and help RIU in achieving the objectives of the Advisory Board. The Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Management Sciences of Riphah International University had initiated the formation of RACE. Dr. Saad Naeem Zafar, Dean Faculty of Computing and Dr. Iftikhar Azim, Incharge Industrial Liaison of Riphah Institute of Informatics said experienced and qualified professionals from industry can guide and help us in achieving the objectives of need based quality professional education.
