ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall has further declined to 3,714 MW in the country as the generation on Monday was recorded as 12,330 MW against total demand of 16,044 MW. According to the daily power generation report, the hydel generation stood at 5,727 MW, WAPDA thermal 1761 MW, IPPs 4780 and Renal 62 MW.

As many as 740 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report further said. The water level at Tarbela and Mangla dams was recorded as 1549.80 feet and 1202 feet with increase water outflow of 61,000 cusecs and 38,868 cusecs respectively.
The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has also increased the supply of water from both the two reservoirs to help reduce the duration of loadshedding in the country. The supply from Tarbela was increased from 56,000 cusecs to 61,000 cusecs and from Mangla to 38,868 cusecs. The hydel generation has significantly increased owing to increased water discharge from both the mega water reservoirs.
